Later in the week we took the bikes down to Mission Beach to cruise the boardwalk and play a little volleyball with the kids to get them touching the ball and testing their skills for the upcoming season. We found an open sand court and decided it was time to make moves in the sand by playing volleyball; parents vs kids!
This is how it went....
"Coach" started the games out.
Sophia settled on the bench with a piece of candy to keep her entertained while I was the team photographer and the 3 teens played against the 3 parents.
Mmm who will win; the kids who play year-round club and school volleyball or the parents who are usually sitting in the stands watching?
Hailey takes a turn at serving.
Lisa goes in for a near dive.
Megan jumps to block against a hit from her dad.
[V-ball socks were on because the sand was hot.]
Looks like the parents got one past Makenna.
Coach pumps up the teams while the kids fetch the ball out of the bushes.
Back in play; Megan does a near back bend to get a ball.
No chance on that one!
Hailey is sporting a new shade of color on her back, sand colored!
Makenna goes in for another ball smacked to her by uncle Vic.
Another nice serve!
Aunt Lisa serves the last point!
Who wins it?
Yeah! The parents do!
Vic struts around showing who's boss!
Parents are number one!
Yes the parents won, though the dads weren't dressed like volleyball champions, they crushed the ball and beat the kids even without the proper attire...Vic was wearing his Oneil surf shorts cinched with a western belt and Coach Kevin sported his John Deer hat and Texas football T-shirt!
Clothes didn't matter, they all looked like pro-volleyball players, diving, digging and eating sand!
After the volleyball game we went back to the bikes to cool off and calm the sore losers.
Planning where to go next on our Making Moves Day, we decided to bike a bit more, then grab lunch on the boardwalk.
We had a great day together!
