One day, a while back, Papa Ron heard me talking to Vic about getting a new swing-set for Sophia. On one of Papa Ron's outings he ran into a guy who bought some old playground equipment from a local school that had upgraded to the newer version.
Papa Ron thought this would be a great opportunity to get a quality unit rather than a inexpensive aluminum type that is sold to the mass market.
When he showed up to the ranch with new swing-set I was expecting new/used but this set was old/used! Not to kick the gift horse in the mouth...I was very appreciative and loved the quality. But the look of it was another story. It had graffiti, chipping paint and rusted chains. I was a bit concerned about the look of it in our backyard not to mention every time Sophia went for a swing her little hands had to have the rust washed off.
After many comments from me about the rusty chains, Vic decided to unassembled the unit and take it to a Powder Coater to have it powder coated in the colors we liked...yeah to my husband.
This is how it went...
At the Powder Coater...couldn't be easy, they wanted every piece disassembled, so it took a while to unscrew every bolt.
Here's the strong beefy swing-set prior to it's new makeover.
Rusty chains NO MORE!
Hello new color choices!
Two weeks later, the set is done!
Papa Ron went for his first swing ride in 30 or 40 years with his grand daughter.
Sophi loves her new "wing wet" as she calls it.
A quick shot of the day for memory's sake.
The swing-set is on the move!
After coming back from the powder coater, we set it up for the Round-Up and now that it's over we were able to bring it home. On the trailer it went.
It held on nice.
Luckily Vic and the cowboys figured out how to get it moved safely.
The last part, which I got to help with, was grabbing one of the legs and carrying it to the gravel area where it will sit for the next 20 years!
Thank you to Papa and Vic for making Sophia's play area a fun place to be.
Sophia says..."Kank You" too!
